Royal Pebble Clay Vinyl Siding Renovation
New vinyl siding in north Edmonton
For this project, the customers decided to keep it simple. To make the most of their original brickwork, soffit, and fascia, they selected Royal Building Products in Pebble Clay. This has been one of the most reliably popular colours in Royal’s catalogue for years. Combined with new windows, this is a classic design that will surely stand the test of time.
A note about the windows:
The new windows installed on this home were the insert style of renovation windows. Inserts are most commonly used in renovations because they require far less disturbance to the surrounding siding than nail-fin windows (also known as new construction windows).
Because renovation windows simply slide into the existing siding opening, there is nothing the window installer can do except to seal the exterior of the opening with caulking or silicone. This leaves the rough opening in the wall sheathing completely unsealed. From now on, any time water gets behind the siding, it will drip onto the exposed plywood and get behind the house wrap. This is guaranteed to lead to rotten wood in the future.
Luckily, these customers planned ahead, and scheduled their window and siding replacements close to one another. This allowed us to properly seal the new windows to make sure that no water would ever get inside the rough opening.
