Small houses deserve big upgrades too!

What a difference a little bit of colour can make!

This bungalow in north Edmonton used to look like so many others in our city. You might have called it drab, plain, boring, or any number of other unflattering adjectives. But as these photos show, it doesn’t take much to transform an exterior!

We swapped out the poorly installed beige siding for new Ironstone siding, a dark colour from Royal Building Products’ Estate series of vinyl siding. We used white corner posts to complement the existing white windows and metals, and all of a sudden this bungalow looks fresh and modern! Even the old wooden step and post look brand new!

Of course, the benefit of an exterior siding renovation is more than just a pretty new colour. Part of our scope while we were preparing the walls was to remove the existing weather-resistive barrier (WRB) and install a new Tyvek HomeWrap WRB. New Tyvek will provide better moisture protection and air-sealing for years to come. We also installed 4” peel-and-stick membranes at all the windows, which also makes a huge difference for moisture and air sealing. New siding helps with more than just looks!
