What Does “39, 46, and 15” Have To Do With Our Siding Renovation Process?
Sure, It Adds Up to 100…But It Also Ensures Your 100% Satisfaction
Cryptic, we know – but let us explain.
You see, in Alberta, it’s common for contractors to request a deposit before starting a job. Legally, we could too – thanks to our prepaid contracting licence.
But at Blue Jay Exterior Renovations, we choose a different path that ensures accountability and builds trust. Because let’s face it – we’re working hard to stand out in an industry with a lot of unreliable players.
39, 46, and 15: these are the payment breakdowns for a siding project with Blue Jay.
You'll get an invoice for 39% at the start of the job only after materials are on your property and work has begun.
46% is then billed as a progress payment – after the job is complete.
And finally, you keep a 15% holdback until all the final touch ups and finishing details are taken care of, ensuring your complete satisfaction.
In other words… our clients never pay for work ahead of progress.
This means that throughout your entire siding replacement, you can rest easy knowing you won't pay for anything but work that's completed 100% to your satisfaction.
And better yet? Our ‘39-46-15’ payment structure is just one small part of our comprehensive, foolproof quoting and siding process.
Our Rock-Solid Process - 10 Steps to a Stress Free Siding Renovation
Our precise quoting process ensures you get exactly what you expect for your siding renovation. No surprises - just top quality siding renovations tailored to your home and delivered with transparency and honesty.
Initial Appointment
The process begins when you call David, our super-friendly and ‘all-around nice guy’ Office Manager, who sets up your appointment.
At Blue Jay, we schedule firm appointments. If we say that we'll be there at 3:00 PM, you can expect us promptly at 3:00 PM.
2. Appointment Confirmation
After the appointment is scheduled, Paul or Lisa, our project consultants, will send you an email confirming the appointment.
This email includes pre-meeting FAQs and materials to help you prepare, ensuring you’re informed and ready for the meeting
3. On-Site Consultation
Paul or Lisa will arrive on time for your appointment, as promised. They'll ask you questions, discuss design ideas, and actually listen to your input. Next, they’ll use digital measurement tools to measure your home quickly and accurately.
Pause... why should you care if we measure your house quickly? Because at this stage, it's critical that we understand what you are looking for, not just how much siding is needed.
We'd like to spend our time discussing your project, not fumbling around with a tape measure and notepad.
4. 3D Modelling and Design Tools
Within 24 hours of the consultation, you'll get access to a 3D model of your home, so you can experiment with different designs and colour combinations.
You'll also receive a full measurement report for the walls of your home so you can see the dimensions with complete transparency – no surprises, just accurate data.
5. Quote Review in the Warehouse Village
Your next appointment would typically take place at Blue Jay's unique functional showroom, the "Warehouse Village," where we'll review your detailed quote and you can see our fully outfitted model homes.
Each quote is personally prepared by co-owner Bjorn Delblanc, who runs our entire construction team – this guarantees accountability and precision.
If it's more convenient, this review can be done at home or online. (But we think you'll really like visiting our showroom).
6. Intermission: Your Long-Lasting Detailed Quote
At this stage – and as a part of our absolutely zero-pressure process – the quote you receive is price-locked for six months, ensuring you’re not pushed into hasty decisions.
And if you want to explore more options, we'll do as many rounds of revisions as you need to get exactly what you want. (The current record is six revisions!).
7. Contract Signing & Scheduling
Once you’re satisfied with the quote – congratulations! It’s time for pen to paper (or finger to touchscreen) to make official one of the best decisions for your home.
Now, Blue Jay's team will order the necessary materials and schedule your project at a time that works for you. As your project's start date approaches, David will keep you informed with regular scheduling updates.
The first 39% deposit is not required until day one of the job. Once the materials are on site and we start tearing off your old siding, that's when our "proof before pay" structure will begin.
8. The Active Renovation
At the start of every work day, Sherwood (our site supervisor) and Bjorn divide up the day's site visits. That's right… we visit every active jobsite, every day! It's a lot of extra work, but it makes a huge difference.
Behind the scenes, the production team stays in constant contact to make sure our installers get the direction and the supplies they need to stay on track.
And if you have any questions, you've got both Paul and Bjorn's personal cell numbers. They're always available by phone, email, and text – even after hours..
9. Job Completion & Second Payment
“Substantial completion” is when the contracted scope of work is complete, with some minor items left to take care of.
So…
Once we reach substantial completion, we'll submit our second invoice for 46% of the project cost. At this point, we'll reach out to you to schedule your completion inspection.
10. Final Walkthrough & Final Payment
At the completion inspection, Bjorn or Omar will walk through the entire project with you. Together, we'll make a list of anything that needs to be fixed, finished, or fiddled with before the job can be marked as completed.
Once these adjustments are taken care of, we'll send the final invoice for the remaining 15% balance.
And best of all?
We won’t ask you to pay this invoice until you're fully satisfied… it's that simple.
