Hardie Cobblestone Renovation

With the modern farmhouse craze driving lots of interest in white, and a general trend towards dark colours, we don’t get to do as many brown and beige projects as were completed in the early 2000s. This project is a great example of why you shouldn’t overlook some of these options!

Wanting to keep the vertical lines of the original wood siding, the homeowners opted for Hardie’s board and batten siding as the main feature on the front facade. The result is spectacular, with Cobblestone panels and battens accented with Arctic White window trims and corners. Cobblestone Hardie Shingle is used in the gable, provide a gorgeous change of texture without commanding all of the attention away from the board and batten.

1” IKO EnerAir was installed behind the Hardie, adding an approximate R6 thermal value to the home - it never hurts to add some comfort along with the beauty of a siding renovation! As we transition to the sides and back of the home, we move to a 3/4” EnerAir, with Mitten’s Ash vinyl siding installed over top. Reducing the thickness of the insulation from 1” to 3/4” for that application ensures we’ve got enough fastener penetration into the studs behind the stucco and sheathing.

Mitten’s Ash vinyl is a wonderful match to the Cobblestone Hardie. While the vinyl manufacturers don’t explicitly match a given Hardie colour, if you look at a few of the major manufacturers, you’re likely to find a suitable option. Arctic White Hardie Trims border the openings in the vinyl portion of the home, adding that crafstman feel and tying in perfectly with the front of the home.

The end result is a more comfortable and more beautiful home. We love the blend of design elements, and this colour! If you’re interested in a consultation for your siding renovation, reach out to us today!
