Hardie Bungalow Renovation
James Hardie Siding and Trim with Exterior insulation panels
Moving from original stucco to Hardie siding created a stunning transformation for this Edmonton bungalow. We started by removing the existing stucco, vinyl siding, and wood siding on the house. As is our standard, we had the stucco tested for asbestos prior to removal to keep the homeowners, neighbours, and our team safe during the renovation. You would not believe how many contractors skip this step altogether, even though the test costs less than $60 and is complete in 24 to 48 hours!
Next we insulated with 1” IKO EnerAir insulation. Not only does EnerAir provide an industry leading R value of R6 per inch, but it is also a breathable insulation - meaning any moisture that gets behind it can pass back through it and away from the home.
We installed beautiful 8.25” Hardie Plank in Night Gray, and complemented the siding with 3.5” Hardie Trim in Arctic White.
Finally, because the existing soffits were tied in to the original stucco, they were damaged upon removal. So we installed new Royal vented white aluminum soffits over the existing wood soffit.
Siding: Hardie Plank lap siding, Night Gray
Trim: 3.5” Hardie Trim, smooth texture, Arctic White
Insulation: 1” IKO EnerAir fiberglass faced polyiso
