Hardie and Insulation Front Facade
Hardie Board Style, Street side
As this project shows, you don’t always need to complete a full exterior renovation to give your home a serious injection of curb appeal!
We removed original cedar siding, and installed Aged Pewter HardiePlank siding with Arctic White HardieTrims and Versetta Ledgestone in Northern Ash. Underneath all the new siding, the customers opted for 1-inch thick rigid polyiso insulation, which adds an extra R6 of thermal insulation to these walls.
This black, white, and gray combination is another example of an exterior design style that is extremely on trend right now in Edmonton. And if you are looking to boost your curb appeal on a budget, just sticking to the front walls of the house is a great way to make sure your money gets spent on the areas that matter most.
A year or so after we completed this project, the clients called us back for a warranty request. It turned out that the little alcove above the front door causes the winds to accelerate and swirl if they’re blowing from just the right direction. Because of this, the soffit section above the front door blew out! We sent one of our crews back to replace the soffit panels in the alcove, and put in a piece of 2x2 backing for added rigidity, and an additional fastening point. So far, that seems to have fixed the issue!
